The well Subotica was activated in 1908. It was the beginning of the organized drinking water supply in Banjaluka. This well water is still being used, pumping approximately 15-20 l/s.
However, the primary resource for drinking water supply is the river Vrbas. Water intake is in Novoselija, 6 km upstream the city.
There are two ways of pumping the water:
- The water-well system (renewed and improved later on) has been used since 1942 and still is pumping 400 l/s.
- Water factory has been working since 1977. We take water from the river Vrbas, process and in this way we provide 600 l/s of the drinking water.
